I downloaded Beta 2 from microsoft, and burned it to dvd at 2x, when i booted the dvd and installed I would get errors, so i decided to install it through XP, It would copy the files and run everything fine. but the second it restarts the computer It just sits there as if there is nothing to boot. So i thought I'd try the version that came in TechNet, same thing. However, when i boot off the DVD, it gives me a "\windows\system32\winload.exe is corrupt" error, but i know the dvd's are good because i have installed them on another computer, but like with the beta 2 dvd, if I install it through XP, I get the same problem, it just sits there not booting anything. any ideas?
My specs are Pentium D 3ghz 1GB RAM 200GB SATA HD

Vista not booting
Is your cd/dvd drive set to first boot priority in your BIOS?

Derek, if I understand you correctly, when you say "reboots" you mean you are still trying install Vista B2--that you have not gotten it installed yet. If that's the case, I'd reburn the DVD and try again. When you do this, do it from XP since from your description you are trying to set up a dual boot--you wrote "I install it from XP." When you burn this next one, I have a couple suggestions for you:
Also if Technet is offering you a CRC checking utility you might want to use it to make sure that your burned ISO is accurate.
1) Make sure you close the burn session and if your CD/DVD writing software has an ISO burning tab like the later Nero versions 6 on up--use it.
2) Also check these steps which could help and are rarely mentioned:
Get to Dev Manager by typing devmgmt.msc in run/win key + pause break or Rt. click My Computer>Prop>hardware tab>Device Manager if you like 5 steps instead of one cmd. If you're set to PMI here change to DMO and if set to DMO change to PMI:
a.. Click the + in front of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers a.. Double Click the Secondary IDE Controller a.. Click Advanced Settings a.. Under Device 1 Next to Transfer Mode choose DMA (or vise versa) a.. Click OK a.. Reboot your System
Good luck,
CH

Have you done a search as Ive covered the issue with teh winload.exe error already. And I found that downloading from microsoft for Vista...doesnt seem to do it right all the time, and sometimes it can take three downloads to get the right image, without hiccups. I think its something to do with the verification check after it finishes downloading...I dont think it has one. haha But, autodect all your harddrives in the bios, otherwise it cant see the harddrive you just installed Vista to, and will come up with the winload.exe error.
